By nominating Sonya Sotomayor to the Supreme Court, President Obama changed the gender and race dynamic of the Court. Nonetheless, it remains to be seen how much Justice Sotomayor’s arrival—and Justice Souter’s departure—will affect the decisions the Court will make.
